Views of Lane's Operations

Lane's existing operation in Washington.
Aerial photo of the existing Lane operation in Washington taken 5/10/2001 by Vince Mecca. At the very top, left of the photo is Douggie Daniel's shop. The grassy strip that runs diagonally in between the two big pits is Route 220. To the upper left it leads to Waldoboro and to the right to Route 17 and Washington. The cluster of machinery in the center is the Lane asphalt mixing plant, which is removed annually so that any taxes on it are avoided if it is not in place on April 1st. The pit at the bottom of the photo that goes out of the picture is also a Lane operation.

Lane's existing operation in Belfast.
This operation in Belfast is similar to what Lane is proposing in Washington. It includes a hard rock quarry (which was already in existence when they applied for permits), rock crusher and concrete and asphalt batch plants. At the very top of the photo is Belfast harbor and the Passagassadumkeag River, at the very bottom is a great pond. It took five years for Lane to win this fight with the people of Belfast and three years to create this scene, since 1998. Photo taken 5/10/2001 by Vince Mecca.
